Andy Baxter (Creative Director)
Andy comes from the UK, where he studied English linguistics at Oxford. His writing career has included journalism, marketing communications, executive speeches, websites, video scripts and books. He is co-author (with his wife, Astrid) of Handboek zakelijk Engels (Sdu, 2011, 2nd ed.) and Baxter’s English Survival Kit (Sdu, 2006). He came to the Netherlands in 1975, teaching at Utrecht University for a number of years and gaining a doctorate in Linguistics in 1985. Astrid Baxter-Holtman (CEO)
Astrid studied English linguistics at Utrecht University and the University of Glasgow. She taught English at Utrecht University for several years, receiving her doctorate there in Linguistics in 1996. She is the author of Correspondentie in het Engels: 50 tips (Kluwer, 2003) and co-author, with Andy, of Handboek zakelijk Engels (Sdu, 2011, 2nd ed.) and Baxter’s English Survival Kit (Sdu, 2006). ![]()
Karen Holt
Karen holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. She has wide experience in commercial writing and media relations, and before joining Baxter Communications in 1999 was the European Press Representative of the US-based Country Music Association. ![]()
Anna Massey
Anna graduated from Cambridge University with first-class honours in Social Anthropology, and subsequently travelled widely in southern Africa. Before joining Baxter Communications, Anna worked in local government and for an Edinburgh-based charity. ![]()
Jerome Martin
Jerome Martin graduated magna cum laude in English from Harvard University (USA). He also holds an MFA from the University of Iowa and a PhD from the University of Cambridge (UK). Jerome was raised in the US but speaks fluent Dutch (thanks to his Dutch mother) and French (thanks to his French father). ![]()
Alana Piper
Born and bred in Australia, Alana Piper holds a PhD and an MSt in History from Oxford University, and a first-class honours degree in English and History from the University of Sydney. Before joining Baxter Communications, Alana worked as a communications strategy consultant and a producer of high-profile national conferences and industry forums. ![]()
Nicolette van Nieuwenhoven
Nicolette graduated in English Language and Literature from Utrecht University, where she also studied PR and Mass Communications. Before joining Baxter Communications, she worked in Corporate Communications.
